Power Flushing Central Heating Systems

Power flushing is a more efficient and quicker way of cleaning a central heating system. It consists of flushing through the whole system using water (and usually a cleaning agent) at high velocity, but low pressure, so that no physical damage is caused to the system.
Power Flushing Before Fitting a New Boiler
When installing a new boiler in an old central heating system, it is important that all sludge is first removed from the system as it could accumulate in the new boiler.
Power Flushing to Solve Central Heating System Problems

- A: Pinhole perforation, leakage, completely or partially cold radiators
- B: Your radiators in need of frequent bleeding
- C: Cold feed pipe becoming blocked
- D: Repeated pump failures or corrosion deposits in pump casing
- E: Boiler making strange and unpleasant noises
Most people are familiar with the build up of lime scale on the elements of kettles and immersion heaters in hard water areas in the country, however, scale formation in closed circuit water heating systems is rarely considered.
In central heating systems, scaling is caused by the deposition of either lime or black iron oxide corrosion debris. Lime scale consists of calcium carbonate (calcite) with lesser amounts of other calcium salts such as the sulphate. Sometimes lime scale deposits contain corrosion debris which has become trapped.
Power flushing will break up these hardened deposits and debris, allowing them to be flushed away easily. This will restore central heating systems to optimum efficiency and sort out problems that may have been occurring as a result of scaling, such as banging noises and reduced efficiency.
How We Power Flush an Existing Central Heating System
The central heating pump is removed and the flushing unit, containing its own powerful pump, connected between the pump valves. We add a cleaning solution and flush through the system at high velocity, but low pressure.
A thorough system clean takes 3-4 hours from set-up to completion.
