Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRVs)
Harpenden, St.Albans, Hemel Hempstead, Welwyn Garden City, Luton and Tring
Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRVs) fitted to radiators give a more responsive control of the radiator heat output according to the air temperature in the room. You can control the heat given out by your radiators on a room by room basis so you can have different temperatures in each room. The head of the TRV has a sensor that responds to the air temperature around it. When the sensor expands on warming, it pushes against a pin which closes the valve.
TRVs conserve energy as the radiators are only used as required, and don’t heat unused rooms. This is great for both the environment and your pocket.

3 Counties Heating generally use Drayton valves because of their reputation for long life and excellent quality.
How To Set Your Thermostatic Radiator Valves
It is best to set your thermostatic radiator valves to a middle setting (approximately 20ºC/68ºF) and see if the room is warm enough. Then adjust by 1 setting up or down and let the room temperature settle before adjusting again until the room temperature is to your liking.
TRVs should not normally be turned to the off or 0 setting, unless the radiator is being removed. It is usually sufficient to turn them down a little, say to setting 1 or 2. If left turned off for long periods TRVs can stick in the shut position, resulting in radiators remaining cold. Turning them fully on is unnecessary and a waste of fuel.
